Timothy Thwaites received his commission as a land surveyor in 2012 and has over 15 years of experience in surveying across Jamaica, the wider Caribbean, and the United Kingdom. He holds a Master of Science in Surveying from University College London and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Geography & GIS from the University of Toronto. He is also an alumnus of the great ‘North Street giants’ St. George’s College.

Currently serving as President of the Land Surveyors Association of Jamaica, Timothy has long history of contribution to the Association, and has been a leader in advancing professional standards and technical capacity within the local surveying industry. His practice, Thwaites Surveying Ltd., is known for its expertise in both traditional and cutting-edge methodologies including broad applications of UAV-based LiDAR and photogrammetric techniques.

Timothy has lectured on GNSS, geodesy, and GIS at the University of Technology, Jamaica, delivered several continuing professional development seminars, and has served on multiple national boards and committees focused on land registration reform, geodetic infrastructure, and natural resource management.

With deep technical fluency and a strong commitment to professional development, he brings both insight and practical knowledge to this seminar’s focus on drone-based LiDAR and photogrammetric surveying for topographic and engineering applications.
