Michael is a senior litigation and dispute resolution lawyer with over 35 years of experience in private practice, followed by executive leadership in the public sector. As a partner at Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt LLP, one of Canada’s leading business law firms, he led a wide-ranging practice focused on municipal law, land use planning and development, property assessment and taxation, valuation and compensation disputes, expropriation, and environmental law. Following his retirement from private practice, Michael joined Ontario’s Municipal Property Assessment Corporation as General Counsel, where he provided strategic leadership to the Legal, Policy and Compliance branch and served on the Executive Management Group, advising the President and Board of Directors and mentoring associate counsel. After transitioning the General Counsel role to a successor, he continued to support the organization as Executive Advisor and Counsel in the Office of the President. Michael currently serves as Senior Advisor to the International Property Tax Institute, drawing on his extensive legal and executive experience in the property assessment and taxation field.
