Michael is a senior litigationand dispute-resolution lawyer with over 35 years in private practice, and subsequent GeneralCounsel and executive leadership experience in thepublic sector. He was a partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, one of Canada’s leading business law firms, where he leda broad practice in municipal law, land use planning anddevelopment, property assessmentand taxation, property valuation and compensation disputes, expropriation andenvironmental law. Following his retirement from Osler, Michael was recruited by Ontario’s Municipal Property Assessment Corporation to serve as its General Counsel and to mentor associate counsel. At MPAC, Michael was responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of MPAC’s Legal, Policy and Compliance branch, reporting to the President/CAO. He also served as a member of MPAC’s Executive Management Group with leadershipresponsibility for specific strategic initiatives and reporting to the Board of Directors. Following the successful transition of the GeneralCounsel role to a successor,Michael continued for 2 years at MPAC as Executive Advisor and Counsel in the OPice of the President. Michael currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the International Property Tax Institute.
