Laura MacLean is the Assistant Director of Operations with the Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC) in Nova Scotia, Canada. With over 20 years of experience in property assessment in Canada, Laura brings deep expertise in people leadership, commercial valuation, and special‑purpose properties. She is widely recognized for her commitment to advancing the profession and for her growing focus on climate change awareness and its implications for property assessment and valuation systems.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Victoria and is an Accredited Appraiser (AACI) with the Appraisal Institute of Canada. She was the recipient of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Richard Almy Research Grant in both 2022 and 2024, conducting research on the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events on property assessment practices.

Outside of her professional work, Laura enjoys golf, travel, and hiking throughout Cape Breton Island, where she draws inspiration from Nova Scotia’s natural landscapes.
