Born and raised in Kapuskasing, Alan has been a lifelongcommunity volunteer. Buildinga career as a respected entrepreneur, owning and operatinga number of businesses, Alan continues to serve as an activemember of the Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA). Elected Mayor of Kapuskasing in 2006, Alan was acclaimedfor two more terms, retiringin December 2018. Duringhis time as Mayor, Al was a member of the Federation of Northern OntarioMunicipalities for twelve years, serving as President for eight years untilAugust 2018. Alan was, and continuesto be, very active and passionate about promoting Northern Ontario and the valueof strong localgovernment. He currently serves as Chairof the Board of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation and theOntario Northland. Alan is currently a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 85. In his spare time and as a member of the OntarioFederation of Anglersand Hunters, Alan enthusiastically enjoys all outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling alongside his family and friends.
