Alan Colston
AsChief Valuer, Alan is a member of the Valuation Office (VO) Senior LeadershipTeam, contributing to the organisation’s corporate leadership and strategicdirection.
Heis directly accountable for valuation and professional standards and is head ofthe surveying profession within the VO. He plays a pivotal role in building andsustaining confidence and trust in the VO’s valuations and property advice. Heleads large, complex transformation programmes in the VO aimed at modernisingvaluation delivery and improving customer experience.
AChartered Surveyor for over 35 years, he attained his RICS Rating Diploma in2000 and went on to serve as Chair of the section in 2017. In 2025, he waselected to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor’s Governing Councilhelping to set the RICS Global Strategy and ensuring it fulfils its RoyalCharter obligations. Alan regularlyrepresents the VO and the surveying profession engaging with a range ofprofessional bodies in national and international forums.
