Chengri Ding is an Associate and Director of the China Urban Management and Land Policy Program at the National Center for Smart Growth, University of Maryland. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996 in urban and regional planning. Specializing in urban economics, urban and land planning, and urban policy studies, he has published articles in leading journals and edited several books. As the founding director of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy’s China Program formally established in 2003, Dr. Ding managed, directed and led the China Program 2001-2008 and orchestrated collaborations with China authorities such as Ministry of Finance, State Administration of Taxation, Development Research Center of the State Council, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Communication, and numerous universities and research institutes. Collaboration projects in property taxation, land policy, housing, and urban planning that he supervises and manages have produced reports and publications that are widely circulated among top decision/policy makers and scholars. His numerous articles published in Chinese has drawn attention from top officials. Dr. Ding has organized and chaired several international conferences/workshops and given many invited/plenary presentations.
