Spring has arrived and activities at IPTI are going ahead full steam! We have been very busy with the preparation and attendance at workshops including the Valuation of Tourism Related Properties and Golf Courses in Barbados held on April 9 and 10th, 2008 in Bridgetown. The workshop was organized by IPTI, the Land Taxation Bureau of Barbados and Public Works Government Services Canada.

Paul Sanderson and Jack Walker attended on behalf of IPTI. Additional instructors for the workshop were John Glen, Jeff Grad and Michael Blaschuk.
More information will be provided in the upcoming issue of the Observer.

We are currently gearing up for two major events, one being the Global Property Tax Management Workshop in Los Angeles on April 29th.

On May 7-8th, 2008, we are conducting our popular Mass Appraisal Valuation Symposium which will be held in Ottawa. It is anticipated that over 30 delegates will participate in LA and over 125 delegates at the Ottawa Symposium.

On May 15 – 17 IPTI will be participating at the NISPAcee Annual Conference in Bratislava. Jan Brzeski will be presenting a paper at this Symposium. This will be IPTI’s first appearance at this organization’s annual conference.

We’ve also been busy with various projects. The International Property Tax Database, will be officially unveiled at the LA Workshop on April 29th.

IPTI has also been requested by Public Works Government Services Canada to prepare a report dealing with the Criteria for Selection of Various Members Tribunals. This project is in its final stages of completion.

On Monday, September 22nd, we will be offering the second Global Property Tax Management Workshop at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin. This will be followed by a seminar on Infrastructure; Deficit Financing Local Government Revenue Generating: Revenue Options.

We are also finalizing the program for IPTI’s 11th International Conference being held on October 21-22nd, 2008 at the Friendship Hotel, in Beijing China. This will be an exciting venue and we look forward to working with our co-sponsors, China Appraisal Society.

With the events and projects in which we’ve been or will be involved, 2008 will fly by!
